The Freelancers Union endor$e$ Mike Bloomberg for Mayor?!?!?

I recently joined the Freelancers Union, mostly to get a discount on a “Y” membership, I confess. But I had been thinking of joining for a long time, ever since I saw their first ad on our decrepit subway system a couple of years ago. And of course in typical arnaldonista fashion I waited until something really made me do it, about two weeks ago. Not too impressed with them at first, but I was slowly starting to look into their health and retirement plans. And then I see on the website that “we’re” endorsing wealthy entrepreneur and would-be Emperor of NY Mike Bloomberg for Mayor.

I'm deeply disappointed with this endorsement of Mike the Billionaire. Aren't there any other candidates in this city willing to help the freelance professional? Why are we endorsing this guy? He has done NOTHING to make NY affordable for NYers... Freelancers Union should change their position ASAP, and make the announcement as public as possible! NY freelancers don't need a Mayor like Mike. At least the ones of us not making $100k+/ year...

Of course, when I skim through the classified ads on the website and see one-bedroom apartments being rented for $2,845 a month, I begin to understand why the members haven’t been more vocal in their protests. Maybe I’m just the poor cousin at my freelance colleagues’ banquet.

However, my opinion is that if you going to bargain with the Devil, you should at least get paid. And I wonder: how much did the Freelancers Union—or even Sara Horowitz personally—receive in exchange for this endorsement. Thirty silver shekels, perhaps?
